Dr Blanca Poveda

 

Blanca completed her undergraduate degree at theUniversity of Edinburgh (UoE) 2007, she then progressed to completing a Masters degree at UoE in 2008 in Human Cognitive Neuropsychology and obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at UoE in 2010. She obtained the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) in 2019 and a further Masters in Applied Neuropsychology in 2020. Blanca has specialised in Neuropsychology since 2008 and has worked in private as well as NHS acute, post-acute, outpatient and community services across England and Scotland. She currently works part-time for NHS Lothian as the Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist for the South East of Scotland Major Trauma Service, as a Research Fellow for NHS Research Scotland (NRS) in the area of disorders of consciousness, post acute cognition and recovery as well as a Director and Neuropsychologist within Edinburgh Neuropsychology. She has a special interest in concussion and post acute recovery and is a Professional Member of the Sport Neuropsychological Society (SNS) and an affiliate of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) and an approved assessor for the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

In addition to her clinical work, Blanca is an Associate Lecturer at the Salomons Institute of Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University and teaches on the Doctoral Programme for Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh. She is an Editorial Board member of The Neuropsychologist Journal.

Blanca has experience supervising both research and clinical projects as well as clinicians interested or working in Neuropsychology (RAPPS member). She has experience of working with multidisciplinary colleagues across rehabilitation, from acute to community. Blanca can provide therapy in both Spanish and English.

Dr Poveda can provide medico legal reports in personal injury and medical negligence cases. She has undergone Bond Solon Expert Witness certification and understands the roles and responsibilities of a skilled expert witness. She takes a proactive role with lawyers from the point of instruction to case settlement.
